AL-Qadisiyah
Boy Scouts Group
This
group was established in March 1994 by a group of volunteers. The
surroundings of the Al Fara refugee camp, to the north of Nablus
City and in the middle of nice fields and green areas, is an ideal
terrain for scout boys.
Our
goals:
Our
main goal is to prepare the best people who carry the responsibility
for themselves and for their country; we also educate the Boy Scout
to depend on himself and to be a useful person within his community.
We take care of the young people (15-20 years) not to slander in
the dangerous social cancers such as smoking, drinking alcohol and
taking drugs.
Members:
We
have about 220 members which are divided into five groups according
to the scout system.
Financial
sources:
Our
group depends on itself to fund its activities from the participation
fees, which are paid by the members at the end of every year, and
also we can find some additional sources from a small amount of
money paid for each activity. But in general, we are facing so many
problems with this part of our social work, that if we can’t find
a donor, we won't be able to run our summer and winter camps, which
need a large amount of money.
Volunteering
and social work:
1.
Helping the farmers in olive harvesting.
2. Painting the walls.
3. Looking after the public gardens.
4. Helping people who need help.
5. Taking care of water sources.
Our
vision for the future:
We
are always working to support our community, but we are facing some
problems such as:
1. Building a separated center for the scout because we are currently
using the Youth Sport Club building.
2. Scouting tools: we don’t have enough tools to organize big scout
camps.
3. The musical band: we have a simple band for scout music but we
need to provide this band with so many instruments like trumpet,
back pipe and saxophone.
Closing
remark:
We
are proud we are still working, in spite of the exceptional situation,
which is the Israeli occupation, and also the lack of financial
sources.
