Indiana
Delegation
SATURDAY , AUGUST 16, 2003
We
the Indiana delegation to Israel and Palestine, would like to convey
our great appreciation to Nedal Sawalmeh , his family, and the Palistinian
children's welfare fund. Our time in AL faraa has been a wonderful
experience, from the moment that Nedal picked us up from where our
taxi dropped us off until this moment that we are about to leave.
After along time and arduous journey from Nablus to Al Faraa the
Sawalmeh Family graciously welcomed us into their home to clean
up, feed us an excellent meal and rest.
Soon though, Nedal had us up and going to a series of exiting events
that we will caryy with us FOREVER. We were first taken to the youth
and athletic center and were given a tour by DR. jamal Arja. It
was very inspiring to see this project which is empowring children
in a difficult situation. We were then given a tour of the part
of the youth center that has still not been converted from being
an Israeli prison, which was an eerie and sad place still. We were
taken to the boy scouts office where we met with Abu Jameel and
talked about the scouts activities in Palestine.
Then we discovered that Nedal had orchestrated a gift giving ceremony
with the children from PCWF here.He gave an endearing speach in
English and then had us stand and pass out gifts to the children
gathered. We felt very honored to be part of this ceremony. And
as if that wasn't enough, Nedal had organized the boy scout troop
in Al Faraa camp to perform an exciting traditional dance for us.
Nedal then took us to an internet access room at the Rehabilitation
center of disables to check our emails before going back to Nedal's
for Dinner and socializing with his beautiful family. We cannot
express enough our thanks at such sincere hospitality shown to us
by Nedal and the all of AlFaraa.
We are grateful for the efforts of the PCWF in Al Faraa refugee
camp and would like to continue including AlFaraa on the itinerary
of future delegations with the hope that some delegates may choose
to sponsor children through PCWF in the future.
Thanks to all
The Indiana delegation
